Visit of a delegation of the Constitutional Court of Latvia to the Federal Constitutional Court

A delegation of the Constitutional Court of Latvia headed by President Ineta Ziemele visited the Federal Constitutional Court from 2 July to 4 July 2018. The visitors were received by President Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Andreas Voßkuhle, Vice-President Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Kirchhof and other members of the Federal Constitutional Court. The topics addressed during the expert discussions included the dialogue between national constitutional courts and European courts and the constitutional review of the legislature’s margin of appreciation when introducing new taxes and adopting new budget laws. The expert discussions also included the topic of fundamental rights in the digital age. In addition, the participants exchanged information on the recent decisions of the two Courts.
